The flight computer for this mission will consist of an
Arduino Uno (R3), an
Ultimate GPS Logger Shield, and
Argent Data's Radio Shield v2 (along with the
Kenwood type speaker-mic cable). I picked up a set of
stacking headers to in order that the Radio Shield could be mounted as the third layer with the GPS Shield in the middle.
I purchased the external
active antenna and
uFL/SMA cable for the GPS shield. It turns out that the shield itself gets great reception, but having not used it before I figured it couldn't hurt and would be easy enough to mount an external antenna to the outside of the space craft if needed.
Both the GPS and Radio Shields have ample prototyping space that could be used for additional sensors. I would like to include at least a couple temperature sensors which I will document in a future post.
